p.3
Progress
The last full inspection in November 2012 judged the home to be good with outstanding quality of care. An action was set in relation to consultation with parents and young people as part of regulation 34 monitoring.
p.3
Progress
Two recommendations were also raised regarding personal education plans and the recording of missing from home incidents. These have been successfully addressed which has improved young people's participation and ensured records about them are up to date and accurate.
p.3
Progress
Young people have made good progress in a number of areas since the last inspection. School attendance levels have increased for example, and the frequency and quality of family contact has improved for several young people. Some have acquired the skills for independence much quicker than anticipated and links with the community have been strengthened through a bicycle project. Young people's behaviour in school has improved and missing from home incidents, although occasionally fluctuating, are generally on a downward trajectory. The manager continues to exercise effective oversight of the home assisted by a highly competent deputy and skilled staff team. The staff team strive to promote good outcomes for young people and are supported to do so. They work closely and effectively with social workers, police and other agencies in order to achieve this.
p.3
Progress
Young people continue to be protected by a range of child protection measures. Recording and the implementation of policies and procedures on such matters is effective but there is inconsistency in reporting notifiable incidents to Ofsted. Such incidents are rare and when they occur young people's safety and well-being is assured. A requirement is raised however to improve practice in this area.
p.4
