p.3
Progress
Since their previous inspection the service is judged to be making satisfactory progress .
p.3
Progress
At the home’s last full inspection in October 2012, its overall effectiveness was judged as good. Three requirements and two recommendations were made at the last inspection. This inspection found that all of these requirements and recommendations had been satisfactorily addressed, and that the home has maintained quality of care and outcomes for young people. No shortfalls were identified during this inspection. As a result, the home has been judged as making satisfactory progress.
p.3
Progress
The quality of care the home provides was judged as outstanding at the last inspection, and remains consistently high. Some staff have received training in play therapy. These newly acquired skills further enhance the quality of care provided to young people and promote positive outcomes with regards to their emotional well- being.
p.3
Progress
Young people continue to make encouraging progress in all areas of their lives, due to the commitment shown by a staff team focussed on them achieving positive outcomes. Young people are achieving excellent academic outcomes at a number of provisions and are encouraged in work placements. As a result, their chances of securing employment and going on to further learning are improved as they move to adulthood.
p.3
Progress
Since the last inspection, a new incident form has been implemented by the manager in order to ensure young people have the opportunity to comment on records about them. This enables individuals to comment on the fairness of disciplinary measures applied to them. Fire drills now take place regularly to ensure all new admissions to the home are fully aware of the home’s fire safety procedures. Significant events are now notified to all required agencies. As a result, all of the requirements made at the last inspection have been fully met.
p.4
Progress
Staff now receive regular supervision and feel supported by the management team. Young people have been involved in the review of the children’s guide for the home. Their comments and suggestions are included in the finished product, which provides new young people with a sound knowledge of the home prior to admission. Contact details for the Children’s Rights Director are included in the guide. As a result, all of the recommendations made at the last inspection have also been fully met.
p.4
Progress
Consultation with young people is regular and effective. Since the last inspection, young people have requested new laptops and internet access in order to complete school work and communicate with friends and family. They were supported by staff throughout the process of successfully achieving this wish of theirs. As a result, young people feel listened to and able to influence the quality of care they receive.
