Progress

At the last full inspection in July 2012, this home was given an overall effectiveness rating of good, with one requirement and two recommendations made for improvement. The home has failed to address the requirement made at the last inspection.

p.3

Progress

The requirement to co-operate with the young person's placing authority in agreeing and signing the plan for the young person’s placement has not been effectively addressed in either the local authority’s care plans or the home’s own care plans. The home is therefore unable to demonstrate that care planning for young people reflects and is consistent with the views of placing authorities or that it has their agreement.

Progress

The Registered Manager has implemented a system which ensures supervision of staff at regular intervals. Staff describe supervision arrangements as beneficial in ensuring they feel supported and their professional development enhanced. Significant improvements to the medication administration and auditing systems ensure the welfare and safety of young people. This promotes good health outcomes for young people.

p.3

Progress

The home continues to deliver a good quality of care. Care planning demonstrates individualised care and support. All young people engage in education and are attaining academic and vocational qualifications. Young people benefit from healthy lifestyles and their health needs are met. Young people describe feeling happy, well supported and cared for.

p.4

Progress

Young people participate in an impressive array of stimulating activities of their choosing. They engage in the community and receive good preparation for moving to independence. Young people participate as active citizens and engage in similar life experiences as their peers.

Progress

Young people are safe and report feeling safe. However, incidents are not consistently notified to Ofsted as required by Regulations. Therefore, the Regulator is not always aware of such incidents that occur between inspections and cannot accurately assess how the home responds to complaints or allegations; or determine whether appropriate action is being taken to safeguard the welfare of young people. In these instances, appropriate action had been taken to safeguard the welfare of young people and all other relevant professionals had been notified.

p.4

Progress

The home has made inadequate progress since the last inspection based on the failure to address the requirement set at the last inspection. The management team are clear about what is necessary to ensure that young people continue to receive good standards of care.
