p.3

Progress

The home is currently judged as good. Since the last inspection of the home in July 2012, the manager and staff team have worked very effectively to further improve the service. The one action and the one recommendation made at that visit relating to monitoring and providing young people with photographs of the home have each been implemented in full.

p.3

Progress

The manager has detailed systems in place which they use to monitor the home's records and to create reports regarding the quality of the service being provided to young people. Independent monitoring visits are also completed on behalf of the registered provider. Reports from these visits have been improved to ensure that they now report on all the required matters; for example any complaints received at the home.

p.3

Progress

The home has well-organised admission procedures in place. These are used very effectively by the manager and staff team to ensure that each young person is admitted safely. The written information provided to young people in advance of their arrival has been further improved to include photographs of the building. This helps young people to become more familiar with the home and the service they will receive.

p.3

Progress

The manager and staff team use a range of meetings and individual discussions to consult with young people, their parents, carers and placing social workers. These arrangements work very effectively and ensure that the wishes and feelings of young people and those involved in their care are taken into consideration. The manager maintains detailed records of the views received. They use these to help demonstrate how these views have been incorporated, where possible, into their plans to further improve the service and the day-to-day running of the home.
