p.2
Introduction
This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
p.3
Introduction
The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).
p.3
Introduction
The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.
p.3
Introduction
There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

Description of the childminding
The childminder has been registered since 1992. She lives with her husband and adult son in Wembley in Middlesex. The ground floor of the home is used for childminding and the children have access to a garden for outdoor play.
p.4
Description of the childminding
The childminder is registered on the Early Years Register and both the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. She is registered to care for a maximum of six children under eight years; of these, three may be in the early years age group. She is registered to provide overnight care for two children. There are currently no children on roll in the early years age range.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder demonstrates that she has an understanding of her responsibilities regarding the care of minded children. She keeps her home adequately safe and clean. She demonstrated through discussion that she is able to minimise potential risks in and outside her home, so that children can play safely. However, she is in breach of a number of legal requirements. She has not kept a written record of her risk assessment and has failed to maintain public liability insurance. She has not updated her paediatric first aid qualification, which means that her understanding of how to deal with minor injuries is out of date. She has recently undertaken safeguarding training in order to help update her knowledge. The childminder demonstrates that she has a good knowledge of child development and how it links to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. She is aware of the need to undertake observations and link these to the areas of learning to help plan for their

individual learning needs. The childminder demonstrated through discussion how she promotes equality and diversity. She takes positive steps to include all children and make them feel welcomed. The childminder stated that she has a suitable range of resources for children of all ages, many of which reflect the diverse world we live in. The childminder is experienced in liaising with parents and others involved in the children's care. She understands the importance of exchanging information to promote each child's development and meet their individual needs. The childminder described how she would evaluate the activities she undertakes with the children. She is able to evaluate her service and has a sound capacity for continuous improvement. She adjusted her practice to meet the recommendations raised at the last inspection. She has improved aspects of her documentation to help safeguard children and developed the organisation of toys to promote free
