Brief description of the service
This service is a children's home and is owned by a local authority. It is registered to look after a maximum of six children and young people, of either sex, who may have emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home is part of the council's intervention and support service. This service is aimed at keeping children and young people at home with their families. The home is in a rural area approximately five miles from the local town centre. It is within walking distance of bus routes, shops, a leisure centre and a swimming pool.
p.4
Progress
Since their previous inspection the service is judged to be making satisfactory progress.
p.4
Progress
The home has been closed for just over six weeks. The registered provider has indicated that the home will not be operational for three months, should the home decide to accept placements they are required to inform Ofsted of their intention to do so.
p.4
Progress
There are three recommendations made at the last inspection which have not been addressed as the home is not operational. These include that young people be encouraged to record their views on any restraints. The records were not available as they had been removed from the home as it was empty so could not be seen. The following two recommendations could not be evidenced as met as there were no young people accommodated. Young people previously had comprehensive care plans which fully identified there individual needs. However, not all young people had seen their plan and therefore did not have a clear understanding of its purpose. Young people previously had access to the office which compromised confidentiality.
p.4
Progress
The home was judged as good overall at the full inspection but no judgement as been made at this inspection. There are no further actions and recommendations.
