p.2
Introduction
This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
p.3
Introduction
The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).
p.3
Introduction
The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.
p.3
Introduction
There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

Description of the childminding
The childminder was registered in 2006. She lives with her husband and two children in the London Borough of Southwark. The third floor flat is accessible via stairs. All areas of the property are used for childminding and the bathroom is on the first floor level. The childminder walks to local schools to take and collect children. She attends the local parent and toddler group.
p.4
Description of the childminding
The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of two children under eight years at any one time, both of whom may be in the early years age range. There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The childminder also offers care to children aged over eight years to 11 years. She is registered on the Early Years Register and on both the voluntary and compulsory parts of the Childcare Register.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder demonstrates a sound knowledge of safeguarding matters. She describes the process and procedures to follow in the event of any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder has completed child protection training and holds an up-to-date first aid certificate. Risk assessments identify and minimise safety risks to provide a safe play environment for children. Documentation required for the safe and efficient management of the provision is in place. The childminder explains how she would help children to learn about their own safety by practising the fire evacuation procedure and through discussions about road safety. The childminder recognises the importance of self-evaluation and demonstrates a sufficient capacity to maintain continuous improvement. She has taken action to address the recommendations set at her last inspection. During discussion, she details further action she plans to take to develop her provision.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder has a sound knowledge of how to support children's learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has a clear understanding of how children learn and demonstrates how to put into practice her system to record their development and learning. Play resources are organised in a manner which promotes children's free choice. These are sufficient in quantity and quality and easily accessible on low shelving. The resources include positive images of the wider world to support children's play and learning. The childminder demonstrates awareness of the importance of engaging with parents and working in partnership with others involved in children's care, to meet their individual welfare and learning needs. She describes how she would make certain all children are fully included to meet their individual requirements. The childminder demonstrates how she would encourage children, through the normal daily
