Progress
Since their previous inspection the service is judged to be making good progress.
p.3
Progress
At the last inspection in November 2011, the overall quality rating for the service was judged as outstanding with two requirements and two recommendations set within the inspection report. The home demonstrates continued improvement in the quality of care provided with a clear and focused commitment to service development. A particular strength of the home is the commitment of the staff team who are clearly very passionate about promoting good outcomes for young people.
p.3
Progress
The requirements set at the last inspection were in relation to the Statement of Purpose and submitting Regulation 34 monitoring to Ofsted. The Statement of Purpose now incorporates all matters set out in Schedule 1 and manager’s monthly monitoring is being forwarded to Ofsted. The management team are continually looking for ways to improve the quality of these documents, particularly young people’s involvement in the monitoring process. The recommendations set in regards to recording of restraints have been implemented and again further thought is being given on how to improve this further.
p.3
Progress
Young people continue to receive well planned care provided by a committed and competent staff team. Staff provide clear boundaries within a caring environment. Young people have a positive view of the care that they receive and their relationships with staff are appropriate and supportive. Young people say they 'feel safe' and can approach staff if they are concerned about any issues. Any safeguarding issues are dealt with sensitively and promptly. Staff manage conflict effectively between young people. The culture and practice within the home promotes individuality, difference and equality. As a result, young people receive high quality care and support which is based on their identified needs.
p.3
Progress
Since the last inspection, the home has continued to improve outcomes for young people in many areas. Professionals from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service attend team meetings to support staff. All young people now attend education including residential trips. Staff have been supported to increase their knowledge through part-time secondments to the area placements team. Effective monitoring systems review the quality of care that children receive and identify areas where outcomes for young people may be improved. Extremely detailed reports of monitoring visits are produced which demonstrate an excellent level of consultation with staff and young people takes place on a regular basis.
