p.2
Introduction
This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
p.3
Introduction
The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).
p.3
Introduction
The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.
p.3
Introduction
There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

Description of the childminding
The childminder was registered in 2002. She lives with her husband and three adult children in Northolt, in the London Borough of Ealing. The whole of the ground floor of the house is available for childminding. There is no access to an outdoor area so the childminder takes children to the local park. The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of five children under eight years at any one time, of whom no more than three may be in the early years age group. She currently has no children in the early years age group on roll. The childminder is registered on the Early Years Register and both the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register.

The childminder meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Discussion with the childminder shows that she has a good awareness of the importance of safeguarding children. Policies and procedures are in place to help the childminder support and promote children's well-being. The risk assessments of her home enable her to identify and minimise hazards to children.

The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
Through discussion, the childminder shows she has good knowledge and understanding of the learning and development requirements and how to implement them. She has observation and assessment forms to complete in order to assess the stage of development of each child. The childminder uses these to plan their next unique step towards the early learning goals. She has a wide range of suitable play materials and equipment to support children's progress in each area of learning.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder understands the importance of working effectively with parents. She explains how she shares relevant information with them about their child to keep them well informed. Through discussion, the childminder demonstrates that she has a good understanding of the importance of liaising with other settings the children attend. She also forms partnerships with other agencies involved with the care and education of children. These links contribute towards children's learning and development.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder demonstrates that she has the capacity to continuously develop her practice. She states that 'improving practice is paramount'. She recognises the importance of keeping up to date with changes and attends courses to enhance her skills.
