p.4

Progress

The home's last inspection took place in June 2011 when 'overall effectiveness' was judged to be outstanding. The inspection report made two statutory requirements which required the service to ensure that all staff receive appropriate supervision at regular intervals, and that case records contain copies of statutory review reports. Satisfactory action has been taken to address both of these requirements which are now being met. A new monitoring system has been introduced for staff supervision with records now showing all staff are receiving supervision at monthly intervals. This was also confirmed by a number of staff spoken to during the inspection. Individual case records sampled contained up to date copies of statutory review reports and the manager confirmed that staff now write notes while attending reviews which are placed on file until the official report is received.

p.4

Progress

Young people continue to receive a very high standard of individualised care in a nurturing and supportive environment. There is a consistency of staffing and young people were observed to have really positive relationships with the staff caring for them. Statutory review reports sampled show that young people are extremely happy at the home and continue to make real progress in all areas of their lives. Comments in review reports from parents and placing authorities were seen to be extremely positive about the service and the care provided. They also show how the complex health needs of individual young people are being met remarkably well and how the service works in close partnership with external health professionals.

p.4

Progress

The home is being very well managed and there is a clear commitment to continuing development and improvement of the service provided. There is an ongoing development plan which is being regularly reviewed and a maintenance action plan designed to maintain and improve the environment and the facilities provided. Since the previous inspection, work has commenced to provide the home with its own laundry provision and there has been new equipment obtained for a recently developed sensory/quiet area for young people. Several areas have been re- decorated and work has been undertaken to make the best use of available space within the premises. A new 'Children's Wall' has been created within a communal area and is being used to display and celebrate the achievements of young people. In addition all young people now have newly revised files which are used to record on a monthly basis their views about living at the home. Reports of monitoring visits
