p.2
Introduction
This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
p.3
Introduction
The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).
p.3
Introduction
The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.
p.3
Introduction
There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

Description of the childminding
The childminder was registered in 2007. She lives with her husband and five children in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. The whole of the ground floor is used for childminding and there is an enclosed garden available for outside play. The childminder is able to take and collect children from local pre-schools and schools. The family have a pet rabbit.
p.4
Description of the childminding
The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of three children under eight years at any one time, of whom no more than one may be in the early years age range. The childminder also offers care to children aged over five years. She is registered on the Early Years Register and on both the voluntary and compulsory parts of the Childcare Register. At the time of this inspection, there were no children on roll in the early year's age group.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder demonstrates through discussion and documentation her clear understanding of how to promote children's learning. Assessment processes include gathering information from parents regarding their child's development and making observations of children as they play. Planned and child-led activities mean children are able to use a variety of resources whilst at the setting, including jigsaws, books, small world toys and physical equipment in the garden.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder demonstrated through discussion her sufficient understanding of what to do if she had any safeguarding concerns regarding a child in her care. A comprehensive policy for safeguarding is in place which includes the action to take, telephone numbers of whom to contact and the procedures to follow should their be allegations against the childminder. The premises are safe and secure with safety precautions, such as stair gates in place. A record of risk assessments is kept. The childminder's first aid qualification has expired but not yet been renewed which is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The required policies to meet the welfare requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage are in place.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
Relevant information is shared between the parents and childminder in order to meet children's needs and build positive relationships. Comprehensive policies are in place to support the childminder's procedures for behaviour management and an equal opportunity policy promotes a fully inclusive environment. The childminder is able to provide a range of healthy snacks and meals for children. Quality improvement processes are in place, such as gathering feedback from parents through questionnaires. The childminder demonstrates commitment to providing a quality service and is generally aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the setting. This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006
