p.2
Introduction
This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
p.3
Introduction
The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).
p.3
Introduction
The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.
p.3
Introduction
There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

Please see our website for more information about each childcare provider. p.3
Description of the childminding
The childminder was registered in 2005. She lives with her husband in the Moston area of Manchester. The ground floor of the property is used for childminding purposes. This consists of two lounges, a kitchen and toilet facilities. There is a fully enclosed rear garden available for outdoor play.
p.4
Description of the childminding
The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of six children under eight years at any one time, of whom no more than three may be in the early years age range. This provision is registered by Ofsted on the Early Years Register and the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. At the time of this inspection there were no children on roll in the early years age group.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder demonstrates through discussion and documentation her appropriate understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage to support children in making progress towards the early learning goals. She would seek from parents their children's initial starting points to be able to plan enjoyable and challenging activities.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder relates how through observation and assessment the individual needs of the children can be planned for. Through planning of activities covering the six areas of learning indoors, outdoors and in the community, children will participate in meaningful play and activities to promote their enjoyment while at the setting.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The childminder through discussion has a basic understanding of the signs and symptoms of abuse, but her knowledge of what to do if she has a safeguarding concern regarding a child in their care or the action to take should an allegation be made is limited. The premises are safe and secure as the childminder would carry out daily checks. However, the required risk assessments are not carried to ensure all potential hazards have been identified and action has been taken.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
Most of the required policies to meet the welfare requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage are in place and reviewed regularly. However, she has not considered a policy to inform parents of the procedure should a child not be collected at the allotted time.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
Partnerships with parents, carers and other agencies are built through the sharing of information to meet children's individual needs. Processes for managing children's behaviour are in place and the childminder has appropriate strategies to ensure they promote a culture of self-respect, involving children in the process of determining the boundaries for the setting. Policies and procedures, for example, equality of opportunity, ensure a fully inclusive environment is promoted, and the childminder is able to cater for children with special dietary needs and would provide healthy, nutritious snacks and meals. This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 The childminder has successfully addressed the recommendation from her previous inspection and has an honest awareness of her strengths and weaknesses. She is now aware of an evaluation process which can be completed online and will
