p.2
Introduction
This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
p.3
Introduction
The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).
p.3
Introduction
Children only attend this setting before and/or after the school day and/or during the school holidays. The judgements in this report reflect the quality of early years provision offered to children during those periods.
p.3
Introduction
The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.
p.3
Introduction
There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
p.3
Introduction
Please see our website for more information about each childcare provider. We publish inspection reports, conditions of registration and details of complaints we receive where we or the provider take action to meet the requirements of registration. This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006
p.3
Description of the setting
Caspers Out of School Club was registered in 2004 and is run by a voluntary parent committee. It operates from a room within Cullingworth Primary school in Bradford and children additionally have access to the school hall and grounds. The setting only accommodates children who attend Cullingworth Primary School.
p.4
Description of the setting
A maximum of 16 children may attend the setting at any one time. There are 26 children on roll; of these, none are currently in the early years age range. This provision is registered by Ofsted on the Early Years Register, and both the compulsory and the voluntary part of the Childcare Register. The club is open Monday to Friday from 7.45am to 8.50am and from 3.05pm to 5.20pm, term time only.
p.4
Description of the setting
Five staff, including the manager, are employed on a part time basis. The manager holds an appropriate level 4 qualification, and two staff are qualified to level 2. The setting has completed a quality assurance scheme.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
There are good systems in place to promote the welfare needs of children. Safeguarding procedures and practices ensure that children are well protected. All the staff have undergone appropriate checks, some are trained in safeguarding children and hold current first aid certificates. The room used by children is clean and well maintained so that children are safe.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
The provider assesses the effectiveness of the setting and takes steps to make improvements. The whole of the staff team, parents, children and development workers are included in the evaluation process. The capacity to continuously drive improvement is demonstrated to ensure that outcomes for children develop positively. The recommendations made at the last inspection are implemented fully. There is now a suitable named deputy, all the committee members are vetted, risk assessments are effectively implemented to safeguard children when they go to the toilets and children's behaviour at tea time is improved. The staff have done additional training and completed a quality assurance scheme.
p.4
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision
Strong links are established with parents, carers and with the teachers in school and childminders to compliment children's learning between the settings. Inclusive practice is promoted because the staff gather detailed information about children in order to meet their individual needs and seek appropriate support for those with special educational needs. The staff demonstrate they have a satisfactory understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. They have completed training on the subject and development records are kept for each child in this age group when they are on roll. The provider confirms that they meet the requirements of the Childcare Register.
