p.2

Introduction

This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.

p.3

Introduction

The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).

p.3

Introduction

Children only attend this setting before and/or after the school day and/or during the school holidays. The judgements in this report reflect the quality of early years provision offered to children during those periods.

p.3

Introduction

The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.

p.3

Introduction

There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

p.3

Introduction

Please see our website for more information about each childcare provider. We publish inspection reports, conditions of registration and details of complaints we receive where we or the provider take action to meet the requirements of registration. This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006

p.3

Description of the childminding

The childminder was registered in 2006. She lives with her husband and five children aged 16, 14, 12, five and two years in the London borough of Hackney. The childminder uses the whole of the ground floor and part of the first and second floors of the premises for childminding purposes. There is a secure outdoor area for outside play.

p.4

Description of the childminding

The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of four children at any one time and of these two may be in the early years age group. The childminder has no children in the early years age group on roll. The childminder is registered on the Early Years Register and the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. The childminder walks to local schools to take and collect children. The childminder is a member of the National Childminding Association (NCMA).

p.4

The overall effectiveness of the early years provision

The childminder meets all requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The childminder provides a clean environment and has an adequate range of suitable toys and resources for children in the early years age range. The childminder has an understanding of regulatory matters, record keeping, and safeguarding children. The childminder also has a suitable understanding about child development and recognises the role of play in a child's development. The childminder has satisfactory knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and has policies and procedures. There are adequate systems for gathering information from and providing information to parents. The childminder is clear about how to foster children's sense of self and well-being effectively and how to ensure all children are included and valued. The childminder has identified areas for improvement, and shows a commitment to improving the service offered.
