Unique reference number EY333612 Inspection date 27/07/2009 Inspector Elizabeth Juon

p.1

Type of setting Childminder This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006

p.1

Introduction

This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.

p.2

Introduction

The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).

p.2

Introduction

The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.

p.2

Introduction

There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration. This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006

Description of the childminding

The childminder registered in 2006. She lives with her children aged 12, four and two years, in the Dedworth area of Windsor. The childminder uses the whole of the ground floor of the house for childminding. There is an enclosed garden for outside play. The childminder makes use of local facilities such as parks and toddler groups. The family has a cat.

p.3

Description of the childminding

The childminder may care for a maximum of four children at any one time, of whom, one may be in the early years range. She is registered on the Early Years Register and on both the voluntary and compulsory parts of the Childcare Register. She currently has no children on roll within the early years age group.

p.3

Overall effectiveness of the early years provision

The childminder meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The childminder has a sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and has updated all the policies and procedures to come in line with the EYFS. The childminder provides this information to parents to ensure consistency of care. There is a policy in place to ensure that any children who may attend the setting are welcomed into an inclusive environment. The childminder is developing systems to self-evaluate her provision and appreciates the value to children of her own continual development and improvement. She regularly attends appropriate training sessions organised through the local borough’s Early Years department. The childminder has recently attended child protection training and is booked on a first aid course to re-new her expired certificate. This ensures children are safeguarded when in her care. The childminder has risk assessed her
