p.1

Unique reference number EY336435 Inspection date 03/04/2009 Inspector S Campbell

p.1

Type of setting Childminder This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006

p.1

Introduction

This inspection was carried out by Ofsted under Sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of the registered early years provision. ‘Early years provision’ refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday (the early years age group). The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children’s learning, development and welfare, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.

p.2

Introduction

The report includes information on any complaints about the childcare provision which Ofsted has received since the last inspection or registration whichever is the later, which require Ofsted or the provider to take action in Annex C.

p.2

Introduction

The provider must provide a copy of this report to all parents with children at the setting where reasonably practicable. The provider must provide a copy of the report to any other person who asks for one, but may charge a fee for this service (The Childcare (Inspection) Regulations 2008 regulations 9 and 10).

p.2

Introduction

The setting also makes provision for children older than the early years age group which is registered on the voluntary and/or compulsory part(s) of the Childcare Register. This report does not include an evaluation of that provision, but a comment about compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Register is included in Annex B.

p.2

Introduction

There were no children on roll when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children on roll, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states if the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration. This inspection was carried out under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006

p.2

Description of the childminding

The childminder was registered in 2006. She lives with her husband in a residential area of Dagenham, Essex, in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The whole ground floor is used for childminding and a garden is available for outside play.

p.3

Description of the childminding

The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of six children at any-one time; of these three may be in the early years age group. This provision is registered by Ofsted on the Early Years Register and the compulsory part of the Childcare Register. There are no children on roll. The childminder walks to local schools to take and collect children. The family have no pets.

p.3

Overall effectiveness of the early years provision

The childminder does not meet all requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The childminder has failed to address all actions made at the last inspection to further promote the outcomes for all children. The childminder is breaching welfare requirements and as a result this compromises children’s welfare. The childminder has insufficient knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, which restricts her ability to effectively promote children’s learning and development. Although the children are interested in the resources on offer, the range is limited and therefore doesn't always effectively support their learning and ensure they are fully challenged. The childminder demonstrates a limited understanding of diversity and equality which inhibits how effectively the childminder promotes an inclusive environment for all children.

p.3

Compliance with registration requirements

In order to continue to meet the requirements of registration, the registered person must take the following action by the specified date:
